Sparkling and shimmering, Seattle always delights

While our cool rainy reputation is well deserved (and often despised), this amazing streak of 48 consecutive days of beautiful warm weather has refreshed my love for Seattle. All my senses are engaged by the sparkling, shimmering waters of Puget Sound, Lake Union and Lake Washington. Sailboats, canoes and kayaks create lovely visuals, tangy salt air fills my lungs and boat bells and drawbridge horns add to the rich marine mixture.

The sculpture above graces the Ballard Locks. The locks allow boat traffic to pass from Puget Sound into Lake Union.

After Sunday brunch at my friend Hal’s houseboat, I took this photo of his collage which is attached to a moored ship near the Ballard Bridge.

A few of the many salmon swimming up the fish ladder at the Ballard Locks, which is directly under the wave sculpture.
